Hin Ta Hin Yai (Grandpa & Grandma Rocks)
Located just south of Lamai Beach, Hin Ta and Hin yai have always been a source of legends in Koh Samui. Those 2 rocks, also known as “Grand Pa” and “Grand Ma” look respectively like male and female genitals. As a consequence, this is one of the most popular attractions in Koh Samui.
A local legend tells that a long time ago, an old couple (Grandpa Kreng and Grandma Riem) were living with their son in Nakhon province. One day, they decided to marry him to a girl from a neighboring province. During the sea trip to this province, a storm destroyed their boat. The old couple was unable to swim and died. The legend tells that they turned into rocks.
Hin Ta and Hin yai is a must see while you stay at our Koh Samui Resort, especially because of the stunning views from the rocks. The road leading to the rocks features souvenirs shops and street food. The Muslim fishing market Hua Thanon Wet is in the surrounding area.
Hin Ta and Hin yai rocks are within walking distance from Mercure Koh Samui Beach Resort.
